history makers
last week, i visited San Francisco and got to stop by the SF Museum of Modern Art for their 75th year Anniversary show. all the big names were there, plus a few names i was pleasantly surprised by. i enjoyed walking into each room, able to recognize the people that have shaped and formed my personal palette. some names include pablo picasso, bruce nauman, andy warhol, jackson pollack, ellsworth kelly, richard serra, robert rauschenberg and david park. can you imagine- all these pioneers of their respective movements neighboring each other? marvelous.
often times, we discount the significance of these artists because we don’t take the time to understand the context of their work. we easily dismiss so much art because of its abstract, hard to define tendencies. but i implore you to take another hard look at what they’ve done for our generation. they’ve unleashed a myriad of possibilities to the interpretation of God’s universe. whether it’s blasphemous or glorious to His name, they have all contributed their opinion. and the best part is, you are free to take from it what you wish.
i’ve been inspired to read more, write more, explore more- to make history one day. i used to pray and ask God to make me bigger than jeff koons (the biggest artist of today). bold, right? i know it was foolish, but maybe that’s what God wants from us: to recognize who He is and what He is capable of. THINK BIG!
a nice depiction of san francisco-

richard serra-

ellsworth kelly-

i am a minimalist at heart and enjoy how the masculine features of the material can appear so refined and effortless.
lastly, david park- i think i just enjoyed the austerity of this moment.
